We invite you to submit a proposal for a breakout session at the 2027 SCATLL Annual Conference, March 16, 2027 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. Breakout sessions will be offered in 45 minute intervals. Please review the session formats below before completing your submission.

Session Formats:
 

-Workshop/Interactive Discussion Session (45 minutes) – A hands-on, interactive learning experience or facilitated conversation designed to provide participants with research-based and practical strategies to support the effective implementation of HQIM.

-Spotlight Presentation (45 minutes) – A concise, engaging presentation showcasing innovative instructional practices, successful initiatives, research-based strategies, or implementation stories that participants can immediately apply in their classrooms, schools, or districts. Spotlight presentations are reserved for schools and districts with a rating of GOOD or EXCELLENT on at least one indicator on the 2026 SC School Report Card.

Through collaboration, professional learning, and innovative resources, SCATLL fosters a culture of continuous improvement and lifelong learning. Grounded in evidence-based instructional practices, SCATLL empowers educators to create engaging, effective learning experiences that maximize student achievement and support positive outcomes for all learners.
 

Proposals should align with one or more of the following focus areas, reflecting SCATLL's commitment to strengthening teaching, learning, and leadership across South Carolina.
 

1. Teaching – Centers on explicit instructional practices. Proposals should show how educators apply research-based strategies in real-world classroom contexts to make learning explicit and build students' capacity to take command of their own learning.
 

2. Learning – Emphasizes how students learn and reflect on their learning. Proposals in this area should highlight explicit instructional practices that promote self-reflection, self-monitoring, and self-regulation—illustrating how students come to see themselves as capable, independent learners.
 

3. Leading – Focuses on the role of instructional leaders in fostering a culture that supports teacher growth and student success. Submissions should showcase leadership strategies that build collective teacher efficacy and support explicit teaching and learning at the school and/or district level.
 

Submission Guidelines:
 

As you prepare your proposal, consider how your work reflects evidence-based, explicit instructional practices and demonstrates meaningful impact on teaching and learning in your classroom, school, district, or organization. Strong proposals will clearly identify the applicable focus area(s), describe the explicit instructional strategies and/or practices being implemented, and explain how those practices improve educator effectiveness and student outcomes.
 

All proposals must be submitted by November 20, 2026. Presenters selected to participate will be notified by the end of January 2027. If selected, presenters will be given a discounted conference registration rate of $249 for up to two registrations.
